Why We Added the Mag Scrubber to Our Lineup, Plus Tips to Get the Most Out of It

One thing we’ve learned is that some of the best tools are the simple ones. They solve a common problem, make the job a little easier, and once you start using them, you wonder why nobody thought of it sooner.
That’s what stood out to us about The Original Mag Scrubber by Apex Supply Co.
When we first saw it, it was one of those tools that immediately made sense. If you’ve spent enough time cleaning glass, you know steel wool is still one of the most useful tools out there. But sometimes you need more reach and holding steel wool by hand all day can cause hand strain.
The Mag Scrubber fixes these things in a really practical way. There are a few simple techniques that help you get the best performance out of it, so we’ve added those below.
A Simple Idea That Works
The design is straightforward: a magnetic head holds your steel wool securely in place, while the swivel lets the pad move with the glass instead of fighting against it. Plus, it can be put on a pole.
Better Reach, Less Strain
Even using the Mag Scrubber by hand gives you more extension than holding steel wool directly in your fingers, which makes it easier to reach corners, deeper ledges, and awkward spots.
For even more versatility, it can also be attached to a pole. That makes it especially useful for situations where you want extra distance without stretching or repositioning constantly.
It’s lightweight, comfortable in the hand, and just feels natural to use.
That’s usually the sign of a good tool, it doesn’t overcomplicate anything. It just makes the work easier.
Built by a Window Cleaner
One of the things we appreciate most about the Mag Scrubber is where it came from. It was created by Michael Kolesky, a working window cleaner who saw a need for a better way to use steel wool on the job.
The idea came from firsthand experience in the field, which is often where the best tools begin. Michael designed the scrubber himself and produces it using 3D printing, turning a practical idea into his first product for the industry.
That kind of innovation is always exciting to see, especially when it comes from someone actively doing the work and improving the trade.

A Few Tips We’ve Learned
Like a lot of tools, getting the best results comes down to how you use it. A few tips to keep in mind can make a big difference.
Spread Out Your Steel Wool
The newest version of the Mag Scrubber has far stronger magnets than the first version, making steel wool falling off of the head a non-issue, but if you do face this (especially in the first version) a good solution is to unfold the steel wool pad and spread it out so it’s slightly larger than the head of the Mag Scrubber. This gives you enough extra material to wrap around the edges, which helps it stay in place better while you work.

Watch the Direction On Your Belt Around Bushes and Obstacles
When working around landscaping, bushes, or anything that can snag the steel wool, it helps to keep the scrubber turned so the steel wool faces inward toward your body while on your tool belt.
That keeps the exposed edge from catching on branches or obstacles, which can pull the steel off the head when you least expect it.
It Gets Better After a Few Windows
One thing people notice pretty quickly is that the steel wool usually holds even better after it’s been used a little. After a couple windows, it starts to mold to the shape of the head and naturally settles into place.
Once it conforms to the shape, it tends to stay put more reliably during regular use.
Flip It on Larger Jobs
If you’re working a bigger job, it helps to remove the steel wool after awhile and flip it over. That gives you a fresh surface to work with and helps maintain consistent scrubbing performance.
It’s a simple way to get more life out of one pad before switching to a new one.
Why It Has a Spot in Our Store
We don’t just bring in products because they’re new. We like tools that actually solve real problems for working window cleaners.
The Original Mag Scrubber does exactly that. That’s why we decided to add it to our shelves.
If you’re curious about trying one, The Original Mag Scrubber is available now at Window Magic Supply.
